On August 26th, we are excited to invite you to join us for a day designed to offer the perfect combination of empowering your body physically through a selection of bootcamp classes, guided hikes, water aerobics, and a yoga practice. You'll be nutritionally recharged in-between each and every physical exploration with specially designed and prepared recipes to nourish you from the inside-out! Of course, they'll be adequate amounts of wine-tasting, lounging, and a few other glorious options for truly treating yourself throughout the day.

Get Charged: The Complete Guide to Breakfast for a Powerful Day Ahead

No doubt you will be perfectly fuelled for the full day's festivities in store for you. Join your hosts Kiki (from Mindfully Edible & Meal Garden) and Sandra (from SASS Fitness) as they welcome you amongst a breakfast spread to remember - high-protein and fitness-friendly! As always, there will be equally delicious vegan options available for those following a plant-based diet. Arrive hungry and savour the food as well as the education on how to build the right first meal of the day for you - considering physical activity level and personal goals as well as health concerns.

Vine to Wine: A Hiking Tour Filled with Memorable Views & History

Bootcamp: For the Hardcore Fitness Enthusiasts 

Ready to take your body on an empowering challenge head to toe? Starting your day with fire energy can be as exhilarating as it is beneficial to overall long-term health. This workout will be accessible for all levels, but regardless will have you "feeling it" the next day - in all of the best ways, of course!

Smokey Plant-Powered BBQ Extravaganza

In true summer-party-mode, we'll be serving up burgers, BBQ, and ice-cream - all in a surprisingly nutritious yet still smokey & indulgently delicious way. Beet burgers, superfoods on the barbie, nice cream, and a few other special treats that will have your eyes wide open to a totally new revamp on the traditional American picnic. Sticking to Mindfully Edible best practices, all food will be just as nourishing as it is indulgent.

Gut-Friendly Beverages & Foods Workshop

From kombucha to kimchi to coconut kefir, learn everything there is to know about fermenting teas and foods to provide your body with the necessary good bacterias that are an essential element for overall health (it all starts in your gut!).

If you're ready to take it up a notch - opt for some more fitness in the pool with Sandra. Set above the rolling hills of Avio Winery, this is by far the most relaxing scenery you're going to do an aqua class in - ever.

Wine and Dine

Since we're in a winery after all, it would be rude to not be led through a proper wine-tasting. Join owner Stefano Watson as he walks you (& your tastebuds) through the premium wines that Avio Winery has to offer. Meanwhile, Kiki will be offering vegan nut cheese and other excitingly odd nibbles and edibles to keep your pallets well occupied.

Yoga in the Barrel Room

Move over goat yoga - the next best new trendy way to downward dog is amongst fermenting grapes! A candle-lit barrel room is where you'll wind down and re-attune to your physical and spiritual self in this flow and restorative practice.

Closing Raw Cacao Ceremony

For the love of chocolate, a powerful delivery system of nutrients and healing for the body and mind - we will complete the day's adventure with an opening of the heart with the help of cacao! You'll each be offered a ceremonial dose of cacao along with an invitation to take part in the rituals of this sacred process. It will be a end for the books as our intention is to wrap up with a chocolatey bang!

A 20-year (plus) veteran to the fitness industry as a model & competitor, she is also the owner of SASS Fitness -  a personal training business serving an all female clientele in the Sacramento area. She has a no-nonsense yet motherly approach to pushing you to your (safe!) limit - plus she's hilarious with it.

Kiki

Founder of Mindfully Edible, Director of Community at Meal Garden; Kiki is a holistic health advocate with a passion for spreading her love of nourishing foods to inspire people to eat mindfully (and have SO much fun being a healthy warrior!)

Something I really took out of the retreat was the idea of mindfully eating - I’ve noticed through doing this that I feel a lot more satisfied when eating (and not that gross food coma feeling I use to always get).

Let us guide you through a glorious day filled with nutritious food workshops, a hiking tour, and a healing yoga practice, to open your heart as well as your mind to a new way of life.

WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED FOR YOU GODDESSES...

ODYSSEY #1: FLORAL MORNING (8am-10am)

Arrive at the vineyards to a collection of delicious & healthy breakfast treaties - both sweet and savoury, and learn a thing or two about how to put together a well-balanced breakfast to fuel your day. Holistic Health Expert Kiki from Mindfully Edible & Meal Garden will be serving up some of her favourite morning goodies - including "superherbed" green granola and grain-free porridges, all complete with various extravagant homemade nut milks and all the beautiful edible flowers for you to top with. Of course, to fit the floral Anthea theme, there will be also be collection of floral teas offered - alongside an in-depth explanation of their health and healing properties. 

Kiki has a knack for being inspired by "trendy" meals (that we see on Instagram) and transforming them into actually nutritious creations with ingredients you've likely not yet familiar with. The best part? Neither taste nor appearance are ever sacrificed. 

As we meet, greet, and indulge, we will chat about how to make each and every one of the dishes offered at the blooming buffet, and Kiki will also offer an optional 'DIY Nut Milk Workshop' for interested participants. 

We promise you'll walk away from the breakfast table full in your belly, heart, and even have your very own breakfast recipe guide as your special parting gift .

WANDERING #2: HIKING TO REACH NEW HEIGHTS (10AM-12PM)

Be led by renowned fitness trainer Sandra from SASS Fitness on a journey of exploration among the stunning nature valleys and hiking trails that our private retreat space offers. This will be a hike intended for all levels and Sandra will offer the necessary modifications and accommodations for those who wish to take it easy or challenge themselves more physically. Bring all of your workout questions ready for this fitness expert! She knows a thing or two about how to train to get results that last - this walk & talk will be a chance to learn amongst the beauty of Northern California's nature scene. 

Adventure #3: FLOWER-POWERED LUNCH (12-1:30PM)

Join Kiki in the kitchen as she lovingly curates a collection of her favourite healthful & organic ingredients to make a truly 'life-changing' salad. Inspired by the 'Foraging for a Salad' Video Series by David Avocado Wolfe, Kiki will discuss the key elements to making a tasty, perfectly in-balance and nutritional powerhouse salad that will have you more excited about 'eating your greens' than you ever thought possible. You'll also get a chance to be the master of the salad creation fun and customize it to your pallet's delight. All while being advised on which ingredients you as an individual (with specific health concerns and goals) should be opting for. This "lunch" will be entertainment, education, a personal consult, and an enjoyable indulgence for your taste buds - all in one.

JAUNT #4: R&R + an optional wine tasting extravaganza (1:30-3:30pm)

Take this time to explore the grounds, lounge poolside, or join us in the tasting room as Founder of Avio Vineyards and Winery, Lisa, takes us on a journey infused with spirit of northern Italy - sipping fine wines and learning the who, what, when, where, and how behind it all.

COURSE #5: DIY Kombucha Workshop (3:30-5pm)

Fermented food & drink is all the rage now, and for good reason - providing beneficial probiotics for our digestive system; working to adequately equip and help to heal our gut. We can all benefit by adding more of this "good bacteria" into our diets. Unfortunately, due to the current uptake in "trendiness" of Kombucha, it often comes with a hefty price tag. Turns out making your own is simple, fun, and a whole lot cheaper. Plus, you can infuse it to your fancy. In this interactive workshop, Kiki will do a talk on the benefits of kombucha, including how to incorporate it into your daily life for optimal health, and then explain exactly how to "brew your booch" for tasty delight in every batch! You'll also receive a hand-crafted infusion kit, with sacred herbs and ingredients to flavour your divine concoction, and of course - a scoby to get you started (the essential starting element for this gut-friendly recipe). 

EXPLORATION #6: Sunset Yoga (5-7PM)

Ground down & Lighten up: Restoration and Self Care through Yin Yoga

Commit to yourself first in this yin class that will soften your heart and your hips! Experience the power of stillness and its ability to move you closer towards your authentic self.  

Yin yoga restores the vitality of your connective tissue through extended time in each passive shape.  It creates a release that will:

  • Hone your ability to manage your energy (and who you give it to)
  • Relieve stress
  • Increase flexibility
  • Support joint health

EXPEDITION #7: EVENING EDIBLES & WELLNESS TALK (7-8:30PM)

A closing ceremony featuring delicious and nutritious eats - in celebration of the sacred and worthwhile adventure we have only just begun together. Guests will be treated to a selection of (always healthy & tasty) goodies, as well as the opportunity to consult with Kiki and Sandra on various health & wellness topics such as cleansing, intermittent fasting, and guidance on following certain special diets. Everyone goes home with a care guide so that you are set-up for success on your own after you leave the retreat grounds. You will each be invited to join us in a private online Facebook group so that we can continue to teach, learn, improve, and strive for optimal health together.
